Natural Breathing

Learning how to breath to re-gain control of the body and mind is one of the most powerful life tools you can develop for yourself. For me personally it has helped me re-gained control over how the body and mind respond to so many more situations within my life causing me unnecessary stress. Using natural breathing awareness will help you to let go of being consumed by negative thoughts and reactions causing stress within your body within any given moment. The more you practice breathing deeply, rhymically and calmly the better you will be able to calm the body and mind when experiencing stress within more and more situations.

How to re-gain control of your body and mind through breathing

There are many different breath work techniques to help you gain greater control over your own physiology. This technique which I use is very simple and something which I combine with a letting go technique at the same time taught by David R Hawkins. This enables me to sit in an ice bath or jump into cold ocean water in winter without reacting to it (this helps you to manage your stress response better through all different life situations).

Step 1. Drop into the body

Start to drop your attention or your awareness into how your body is feeling. To do this focus on breathing through your nose. This will help to calm your automonic nervous system which controls most of our bodily functions. You are now in a position to start re-gaining control over how your body is reacting to what you are experiencing (both in this present moment in the outer environment and to what the mind is paying attention to).

Step 2. Let everything go

As your paying attention to how your breathing start feeling for any tight spots or tension within you as your breathing in. Gentle allow each part of your body around the airways relax more and more so your breathing becomes easy and easy to do. This is you letting go of any stress held within your body which is pulling you out of being fuly present with the natural essence within that moment. This helps you letting go of any attachments to percieved threats that the mind and body is unconsciously picking up causing a stress response. You are now re-gaining control of how you want to be in your life.

Step 3. Live with your breath

In the 100-day challenge we continue building this simply breath and letting go technique into all different situations within your life. Firstly start off in a place where there is little to no outside stimulus. So start off someone quiet sitting with your eyes closed. Try for 5 minutes and slowly build up to 20 minutes. It might sound simple but it’s amazing how the mind will try and pull you out of being fully present with your breath. So just easy into it and practice daily if you can. Doing this will give you the foundation to help you to start dropping into your body within all different life situations. It’s amazing what you handle when you start living with your breath.
