My journey and how the concept of Nature as a health club was born
For many years as a fitness trainer, I thought the best place to get fit and healthy was in a health club.
But my body was trying to tell me otherwise.
Although I was extremely fit and strong, I still would have trouble controlling different aliments which for me was eczema and asthma. And for many years I would try to treat these aliments with medication or various natural remedies only for them to reappear again.
It was only when I learnt that these aliments weren't a condition or a curse, they were just a clear indication that my mind & body were overly stressed. My body was giving me a clear sign that my body was not coping with the amount of stress I was placing on it somehow and as result my body could not repair itself properly and it was starting to break down as a result.
I was doing all the things I learnt as a fitness trainer. Working out in a gym everyday. Eating according to the food pyramid. But despite being strong & fit, my bad skin was an indication that something was off.
In the early 2000's I was fortunate enough to come across a holistic health coaching course. It was through learning how to look at the bigger picture of myself that I realised that my allergies were a symptom of my lifestyle and/or diet being out of alignment with what my body needs to be healthy.
As a result my mind & body were overly stressed and the skin rashes and asthma symptoms were simply just a reflection of this.
I learnt to look at any aliment As a clear sign that things within my life are not aligned with what my body, mind and spirit need - this is when i really got fit and healthy
When I learnt that our health challenges are just an indication that our way of being in life is not aligning with what our mind, body and our spirit needs, this totally shifted the way I looked at my aliments and my health.
Another big lesson or realization was that we are all capable of being in a state of optimal health and high vitality. Essentially which can be free of all the different things we think we have to endure mentally and physically in life.
The modern way of living comprises our well-being and makes us feel as though we have to endure a lot more hardships than we really need to.
We are naturally meant to be healthy, fit and at ease in life. The modern way of living can restrict our ability to experience these states of optimal well-being that we all entitled to feel!
Our genetics our 99.9% based upon the hunter and gathering natural lifestyle humans lived for hundreds of thousands of years. We are therefore naturally meant to be connected with nature, eat natural wholefoods and revolve our sleep and activity around the sun, the moon and the seasons. Our bodies DNA are based around this natural way of living with the earth and the elements.
The more we deviate from living with nature and ignore what our bodies are trying to tell us, the unhealthy and more out-of-shape we become. The more and more our physical and mental health will deteriorate. The more aliments we appear and restrict us.
That's why getting out into nature, quieting our mind, calming your nervous system is really the first step for you to get control over your body and essentially your life. Because if you have not got control over your well-being, you have lost control of your body and your mind. You become more affected by modern day ways of living.
Unfortunately a lot the conventional ways of how to get fit and healthy does not address the importance of looking at your mind, body and spirit as one. The importance of nature in relation to our health and fitness has been mostly overlooked or maybe not highlighted or promoted enough.
That’s why Nature HC has been created. To put together a Health Club which emphasises the importance of listening to your body, treating the mind, body and spirit as one and the big role nature plays in keeping us fit and healthy.
